- I understand that becoming a foster parent means that I am responsible for the animal in my care from every aspect of their needs, (feeding, exercise, following the training protocol, socialization, attending veterinary appointments, administering heartworm and flea medications, etc.) as though they were my own. Though supplies and training are provided to me through Operation Sidekick, I understand that I am responsible for the overall health, wellbeing, and at-home training time with my foster.
- I will follow the Operation Sidekick training protocol and will not change the protocol in any way.
- I understand that my foster is a working dog and not a pet and that following the guidelines are imperative to his/her success in becoming a service dog for a veteran suffering from PTSD.
- I understand that once my foster is released to an owner, I may not be able to communicate with the new owner and I may not be able to see my foster dog again, depending on the situation.
- I will not hold the American Pit Bull Foundation or Operation Sidekick liable/responsible in the event of an injury, (related to my foster dog or otherwise), or property damage, (related to my foster dog or otherwise). I understand that I will be held responsible should preventable injury or preventable illness befall my foster dog while they are in my care.
- I understand that if my foster dog/puppy is deemed not a good fit for service work that he/she may become available for adoption through the American Pit Bull Foundation. In the event of this occurring, all interested parties will go through an application process to adopt.
